Pediatric Occupational Therapist
Barb Crowley is a Pediatric Occupational Therapist with over 25 years of experience working with children of all abilities from the ages 0-22
She has worked with children in a variety of settings including home health, hospitals, clinics and schools. Barb has advanced training in Sensory Integration, Feeding, Therapeutic Listening, Handwriting and Fine Motor Interventions, Infant Tummy Time and Infant Massage.
In the last 13 years, while working as a School-Based Occupational Therapist for Allen ISD, Barb noticed that she was getting more and more referrals for children for handwriting, fine and visual motor issues, and problems with sensory processing. Children appeared to be getting weaker, less coordinated, and more challenged by sensory stimulation.
In an effort to help children and their caregivers, Barb wanted to create a business that would provide education and strategies in the early stages of child development; thus, she founded Sensory and Movement Solutions. To start, Barb will be offering 3 classes: a 4-week infant massage class for babies ages 1 month to 12 months, a 4-week Tummy Time and Play class for the pre-crawling infant- a therapist led baby and movement and bonding sessions inspired by the Tummy Time! Method and yoga principles, and a class for the expecting parent that will incorporate both.
As a parent herself, Barb understands that pregnancy and early parenthood can be an extremely challenging, isolating, and confusing time. As a new parent in a new city, she joined an infant massage class. Not only did Barb see the benefits of infant massage for her own daughter, she found a community of like-minded moms. She is passionate about creating a caring and nurturing community for expecting parents and caregivers that will offer support, education, and strategies to help promote the health and well being of their child and themselves.
